When someone is killed or injured in an accident due to the negligence of someone else those who survive have a right to expect compensation. Whether the suffering is due to personal injury, damage to property or some other issue, or even if the accident happened outside the boarders of South Carolina, victims deserve to have help through all the legal mazes they are likely to face.
This is particularly important considering how insurance companies tend to function. While their obligation and responsibility is to make good on legitimate personal injury claims against those they insure, many companies make it a practice to dodge that responsibility unless they are confronted with a legal adversary prepared to go toe-to-toe with them. Having the aid of an experienced attorney may also be helpful in sorting through the tangle of possible entities that could be held accountable.
Bringing this issue to the surface is a deadly car accident Friday night. Officials say a 14-year-old Chester boy died in the hit-and-run accident. Five others were injured. This happened in Pineville, North Carolina. As we are writing this post, authorities are reportedly seeking the help of the public to find the vehicle and driver responsible.
According to North Carolina Highway Patrol troopers, a mom and five children were driving along Interstate 485 on their way home from an AAU basketball game at about 11:40 p.m. when the SUV they were in was side-swiped by a white car. Troopers quote the mom as saying that the white vehicle came speeding up on the right side of her, on the shoulder of the road, and hit her. She lost control and flipped over.
The boy who died was her son. Officials say he was ejected from the SUV when it flipped, as were two other children. The woman and the four surviving children, ages 6 to 15, were hustled off to the hospital. They're all expected to recover.
